Jane Hughes
Batik & Shibori Artist

Jane retired from teaching 7 years ago and finally had the time to follow her interests in all things arty. She began working with water colour and pencil drawing taking inspiration from her love of the countryside and her garden. Her first venture was to get her watercolours printed into cards, supplying local farm shops and small businesses around the Staffordshire, Shropshire border.
Three years ago Jane attended a workshop in silk painting and was hooked! Her love of textiles was rekindled and Jane went on to explore Japanese Shibori and batik. Batik is now her favoured art form.

Jane is a trustee at the Dorothy Clive Garden and often runs workshops in art and batik at the gardens. Jane also runs workshops from her home and takes her work to local artisan markets and creative events.
Jane is thrilled to join the team at Gallery 12, she brings boundless enthusiasm for all things creative.
